Barnes, London – Townhouse Garden

Featured in Ideal Home magazine, this sumptuous family garden includes two sunny terraces and a secluded dining area. A generous terracotta water feature and decorative lighting throughout sets the mood for evening entertainment. Outdoor furniture including a bespoke mirror with planted shelves, garden lanterns, lounge seating, side tables and a dining set were sourced for the project.

The planting palette is whites and lilacs with an emphasis on year-round colour, scent and structure. To reflect the beautiful Victorian architecture of the house, we rebuilt the garden walls with reclaimed brick and paved the terraces in sawn Yorkstone.

“We can’t thank Joanna enough for the work that she has done on our garden, turning it from a very overgrown mess into a calm, beautiful space that we absolutely love. Right from the initial consultation, Joanna understood the brief and was able to visualise how to turn it into a reality. She created a fantastic scheme that is not only beautiful but practical too, and was able to recommend all the materials, furniture, lighting and storage as well as a very detailed planting plan.” L.T.

“Joanna was very proactive throughout the build process to ensure everything ran smoothly, which it did despite two lockdowns and all of the challenges of working through a global pandemic. We are absolutely thrilled with the results, and friends have commented that being in our garden is like being on holiday. Her knowledge, creativity and dedication is second to none, with the added bonus that she’s lovely to work with too. We cannot recommend Joanna highly enough.” L.T.
